# Mathematics

The six-year Mathematics programme aims to:

- equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills and processes for the continual learning of Mathematics
- provide students with meaningful and engaging situations to enhance their learning experiences
- develop positive attitudes such as confidence and perseverance
- motivate students to be independent learners

## Department Key Programmes

•

**P3 to P6 Math Olympiad Programme**

High progressive students to be exposed to challenging math problems to sharpen their logical and analytical skills in problem solving.

**P1 to P6 Parents’ Workshop**

Parents are invited to attend the following workshops. Teachers share strategies or approaches with parents to enhance students’ learning through home support.

- Lower Primary Model Drawing

- Upper Primary Model Drawing

- Enhancing of visualization skills through the 5R approach

**P1 to P4 Mathematics Championship**

To develop students’ speed and accuracy for factual fluency in basic computation skills. All students will go through a selection round in class. The top three finalists will represent the class for the final showdown held in the presence of the students in the level.

P1 - Number Bonds and P2 – P4 Multiplication Tables

**• P1 to P5 Heuristic Package**

The heuristic package aims to explicitly teach various skills. For every skill taught, the students will be given an example on how the skills can be applied. This is followed by two questions for students to work on independently.

**P1 to P6 ICT Mathematics**

Leveraging on ICT, students learn to collect and represent data using picture graphs, bar graphs, line graphs and pie charts. Students use ICT tools such as spreadsheets to generate statistical diagrams to represent the data.
